Atlanta, Indiana: New Earth Festival

Okay, so this past weekend Sarah over at LOVE, LOVE, LOVE and I went to the New Earth Festival in Atlanta, Indiana with my mom, aunt, and cousin's daughter. We had tons of fun and saw tons of food... and crafty things :). It's basically like an outdoor flea market/yard sale. Here are some of my fun finds:

This was only 50 cents! AND my kitchen is done in red and white! I fell in love with it. I told Sarah I was going to put it on my kitchen table... she said I don't have room, my mom agreed... from the next photo- I guess they are probably right...

These are ALL of my finds on my tiny table!

The two cat trays were only 25 cents each! My red and white kitchen is also done in cats and paw prints... so I'm going to glue some ribbon on the back of these and hang them up!

The container is my own, but it is filled with homemade doggy treats purchased at $3.50 for a bag FULL! My puppy is super happy!

I became addicted to the gourmet dip by Delicious Living. It's Zesty Garlic and yumminess! Also, $4.

Total amount spent on goodies: $8.50
Total amount spent on food: $8.00 (two pepsi's ($2), a jumbo hot dog ($2), and chili cheese fries ($4)!)

THEN, my cousin had this super cute bow in her hair. She paid $5 for it from Claire's. They didn't have yellow so she asked if I could make her one... I'm thinking it's a project I can manage!

On the way home she fell asleep in front of me. I decided to see how many braids I could get in her hair before she woke up... unfortunately we got to my house before I finished- Sarah and I got a good laugh out of it though!

Now, Sarah and I spotted these adorable things for $10 each and refused to pay that much. We are now going to take it on as a craft to create and sell at the Holiday Bazaar for hopefully a more affordable price... we shall see!

October 10th is my first trip to the Mansfield, Indiana Covered Bridge Festival! More fun to come!

Pink Saturday: Lazy Edition

It's been a long, long week of stress and overloaded teacher duties. My brother informed me tonight that he is helping me with my yard sale tomorrow- a yard sale I had talked myself into waiting until October to do, so here it is 11:44pm and I don't have anything priced or change. I guess we'll just start late and see what happens.

Here's the Pink Saturday post blogging buddies :). It's a picture of my best friend forever (we've literally been friends FOREVER) Sarah from LOVE, LOVE, LOVE and I with her uncle's old horse, Shadow. We both have pink in our shirts and on my coat... but best of all (something I STILL do)- check out my hot pink shoe laces! My requirement for all tennis shoes I buy is that they must have pink on them... and then I add pink shoestrings. Gotta love the pink (and my awesome friend whom I'm so glad I've been able to talk to and hang out with so much again)!

Happy Pink Saturday! Enjoy!

Wednesday Words

"It was more than just a comet because of what it brought to his life: direction, beauty, meaning. There are many who couldn't understand and sometimes he walked among them. But even in his darkest hours, he knew in his heart that someday it would return to him, and his world would be whole again. And his belief in God and love and art would be reawakened in his heart."

GET A GIFT, GIVE A GIFT

I SO TOTALLY excited about this next project...

Get a gift and give a gift!!

I absolutely LOVE it - even if no one comments or responds to it!
But I TOTALLY want to make some awesome gifts for some awesome people!

Copied from my friend Sarah over at LOVE, LOVE, LOVE who copied it from her friend!

Pay it foward!

Who doesn't love new, beautiful, unique handmade items? How about if you could get that new, beautiful, unique handmade item for
free? How about if you then shared your talents with others? Now I know that last one sometimes makes people nervous...but I know there are enough of you out there that are up to the challenge. So please, read on and leave a comment.

For all bloggers who leave a comment with blog address or email on this post and commit to do the same pay-it-forward on their blogs I will do the following:

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I send you. But you may be pleasantly surprised.

2. What I send will be made just for you,
with love, by my own hands. You'd be surprised how much of our personalities come through online.

3. I will complete all gifts this year - 2009 (scary I know!).

4. I will not give you any clue what it’s going to be. It will be something made in the real world, that you can touch and feel, and not something cyber.

5. I reserve the right to do something strange. It may be weird or beautiful. Or it may be monstrous and annoying. If you find it truly horrendous, just let me know. Perhaps you'll send it forward to someone who will absolutely love it.

6. In return, all you need to do is post this text on your blog and make 5 things for the first 5 to respond to your blog post (one for each).

7. Send your mailing address - after I contact you to confirm. I am willing to post overseas (I am in the US).

I AM SO SUPER EXCITED! I LOVE THAT I CAN MAKE OTHER PEOPLE HAPPY AND BRIGHTEN THEIR DAY! Even more important, I LOVE that I have gotten to spend so much time hanging out with my amazing friend Sarah. She is the BESTEST of all BEST friends anyone could ever have. She even bartered for me! I LOVE LOVE LOVE HER :). (And I hope she lets me send her something!)

Fun Fall Finds!

How adorable is this?!?!?! I spent an awesomely fun afternoon with my friend Sarah over at Love, Love, Love shopping at Michael's, Joann's, and Target. We found this cute little loaf pan with squirrels on it for $1 at Michael's. Then we traveled across the street to Target and found this adorable squirrel place card holder in the seasonal department for $1.99. Now I'm just sad I didn't buy the plastic acorn decorative fillers to go around him! Guess I'll have to make a return trip! :) Tomorrow we are off on a super fun flea market trip! I've been asked to bring along my camera... so we will blog more upon our return!

Pink Saturday!!! (super excited about this project)

Okay, so this involves a transformation of a bird house I made in 6th grade wood shop class. Where the girls weren't allowed to touch any power tools (so wrong, I know). Anyway, I thought I had a before pic, but apparently not. Let's just say it was a dark royal blue, with lots of clashing colors used for grass, flowers, and a tree painted on the front with the entry hole up in the leafy part. It wasn't cute- I hated it from the moment I painted it, but we had been rushed and had very little to choose from as far as paint colors.

Primered and missing half of the roof:

Finished project! Pretty and pink! (The little pink bird foot prints were left over from my 6th grade attempt to fix the disaster... I added glitter to the roof to keep the shingles from shedding the little black pieces.)

I decided to paint the inside gold (didn't worry too much about it since it's the inside) and install hinges on the roof when I reconstructed it.

A little wreath of flowers for girly charm and I added a screw as a door knob (my mom thought I was crazy when I showed her).

Voila! Now I can use it to hold things... my thoughts were ribbon or fancy scissors... my almost twenty pound cat's idea was himself... obviously he's a little challenged with his spatial reasoning skills.

Wednesday Words Preview

Because Grey's Anatomy is one of the shows I LOVE and because new seasons are starting up- here's a quote that means so much to me:

"You never know the biggest day of your life is the biggest day. Not until it's happening. You don't recognize the biggest day of your life, not until you're right in the middle of it. The day you commit to something or someone. The day you get your heart broken. The day you meet your soul mate. The day you realize there's not enough time, because you wanna live forever. Those are the biggest days. The perfect days. You know?"

Wednesday Words

Okay blogging buddies, I'm sure this will get off to a slow start- but I am going to launch it anyway! I don't know about you, but I LOVE quotes. I am a quote collector, from movies, books, people, tv series, you name it- if it touches a layer of my life then I write it down and save it (Okay I'm also somewhat of a pack rat). So, I was thinking- what fun would it be to find out quotes that have touched other people's lives? That's why I'm launching Wednesday Words! If you want to share a quote that means something to you (with the source as well of course- if it's anonymous just state so), then just link back to my blog in yours or if you would like me to list your blog site on my own so that there is a directory people can go to, just email me your name and blog address by Tuesday 8am EST. I was also trying to decide between Sayings Sunday or Wednesday Words and decided Wednesday would be a nice day for quotes since it is the middle of the week and we all need a little something to get us through. Let me know your thoughts!

LATE PINK SATURDAY CHALLENGE!

Okay, so Beverly over at How Sweet the Sound challenged us Pink Saturday Bloggers to feature another blogger on our post. I'm a day late- due to being sick in bed all day most likely, but this was well worth the wait!

Check out Claudia at Dipity Road! This is what I call Heaven on Earth! My soul sighed when I saw the pictures of what I can only call complete happiness. I love animals (thus my five pets) and would love to live in a quiet country house where animals wandered by for a visit. You HAVE to see Claudia's photography! It's AMAZING!

DIPITY ROAD!!! CHECK IT OUT!!!

Tree Branches Galore...

Okay, so I'll be the first to admit that I have come to HATE yardwork. I made this huge flower bed last summer (only lived in my house for a year and a half now), thinking it would be less grass to mow, and despite all of my efforts it has been overtaken with weeds and grass. I also have an 8 foot tall fence out back that faces up against my neighbors privacy fence- but they left about a foot of weed growing space for me to enjoy... the weeds have trunks from B.M. (before move-in). I hate the jungle craziness, but this is all rambling because I am writing this post in reference to the pile of tree branches I have collected in my front flowerbed. Why haven't I broken them down and thrown them away you ask? Because it frustrates me that they had the nerve to fall out of the tree in the first place, and because they just poke holes through the sides of the bags and scratch me all up! So last year, I had this idea that I was going to use them to make a fall craft- I got frustrated and gave up when the branches wouldn't cooperate. So... what now? Well, there's a new bushel of them waiting my bad words and frustrated glares. Alas, I found this craft... it involves glittery diamondlike decoratives and reminds me of the winter snow I adore... so here's to Amy vs. the Branches: Year 2. I'll let you know how it turns out!

Pink Saturday- muted addition

Not much fun around here I must say. My voice has almost completely disappeared and the pain in my throat is going to prevent me from trying it out much. You never realize how much you talk to yourself until you are unable to :P. Anyway, my beloved Tinker Bell watch died... so dead that a new battery had no effect whatsoever... so in my great despair I came across a pink watch instead! YAY! Some minor relief... because when there is no Tinker Bell... there can still be pink!

The batteries in my camera died so this is a cell phone pic- thus why it is fuzzy :(. Well, you get the idea :). Happy Pink Saturday Blogging Buddies!
